To Apply for AAES Membership:

  1. Review the current AAES Bylaws on this website (Attention Section 1 and 2 for membership requirements) to ensure that you meet the criteria. Bylaws as of April 2017
     
  2. Identify and contact a Sponsor who is currently an AAES Active, Senior, Corresponding or Allied Specialist member. Find an AAES Member
     
  3. Complete the Online Membership Application at the bottom of this page and upload all required documentation. For Active, Allied, and Corresponding members, applications must be submitted by January 31 of each year cycle. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

    Required documentation should include:
    • Bibliography / Curriculum Vitae (please limit your CV to no more than 10 pages)
    • Sponsor Letter (from Active, Senior, Allied or Corresponding member of AAES)
    • Letters from two (2) additional Endorsers (from Active, Senior, Allied or Corresponding members of AAES)
    • Two (2) of the following to demonstrate evidence of special interest in endocrine surgery:
      • Reprint of a peer-reviewed literature contribution to endocrine surgery diseases
      • Documentation of ≥1 outreach or CME talk on an endocrine surgery disease topic to hospital, referring providers, and/or local community in the last year.
      • CME documentation of attendance within the last year at ≥1 annual meeting in another society that addresses endocrine surgery disease (ATA, AACE, WCTC, LATS, IAES, etc.)
      • CME documentation of a CME course specific to endocrine surgery disease totaling ≥4 category 1 AMA credits (examples: ACS Thyroid and Parathyroid Ultrasound Course, institutional thyroid or parathyroid symposiums, Masters Course in Endocrine Surgery, etc.).
      • Letter of completion for AAES-accredited Endocrine Surgery Clinical Fellowship

Please refer to the AAES Bylaws regarding specific requirements for Resident/Fellow, Candidate and Affiliate Provider Membership. These applications are reviewed and approved on a monthly basis upon receipt of complete application materials.

Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed this cycle. Complete applications received by January 31 of each year will be reviewed by the Membership Committee and by AAES Council, and the names of applicants recommended for election to membership will be voted upon at the AAES Annual Business Meeting in April/May. Applicants thusly elected to membership will be presented with certificates of AAES membership at the AAES Annual Meeting the following year.

All membership applications must be submitted using the online application. Please upload all required documentation at the time of the submission. In order to ensure that your application is complete prior to the deadline, any additional materials not included in the online submission (ie: letters of endorsement, sponsor letter, etc) must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2018 and mailed to:
