Thanks to the generous support from AAES Past-President Carmen C. Solórzano, the AAES is excited to again offer two travel awards for Latin American surgeons residing outside the United States to attend the 2025 AAES Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 17-19, 2025. The $1,500.00 USD travel awards will help cover airfare, hotel, and other travel expenses. Recipients will also receive complimentary registration to the 2025 AAES Annual Meeting. Non-members are eligible to submit an application for a travel award and are also encouraged to apply for membership in the AAES. A call for interesting cases will be made in January, 2025, and all are encouraged to submit their work. Click on the following link to learn more about the Annual Meeting.

The application period has now closed. Notifications will be sent to applicants by January 31, 2025.

As a separate opportunity unrelated to the travel awards, Latin American surgeons residing outside the United States are encouraged to apply for an observership opportunity at two participating institutions. Learn more about these opportunities here:

Those applying for an observership should forward their CV, a one-page letter indicating which observership opportunity they are interested in, why they are interested in a particular opportunity, and what the applicant hopes to learn from the observership opportunity. Prior to applying, applicants should carefully review documentation required by the institution and any health or immunization requirements to ensure they can meet those requirements prior to visiting the institution.

The application period has now closed. Notifications will be sent to applicants by January 31, 2025.
